One of the first interventions is the school-based support of Rössing Foundation tutors who, through their daily school-based interventions, aim to establish a sound subject knowledge base and good educational practices.

Teacher and learner support is based on the principles of a mentoring and coaching programme implementation strategy. This is achieved by the following means:

    • Using classroom- and centre-based support, Rössing Foundation experts observe and support teachers during normal teaching hours in a classroom situation and tackle teacher shortcomings face-to-face with them during the Afternoon School Development Programme.
    • The tutors run the After-school Teacher Support Programmes and the Weekend/Holiday Teacher Upgrading Programme.
    • Through its scholarship scheme, the Rössing Foundation supports selected teachers in upgrading their mathematics, science and English skills through accredited universities.
