A temporary Master Maths Programme has been installed at the Arandis Community Development Centre. The system was tested during the fourth quarter of 2007, and is now ready to be fully implemented during 2008. In addition, a Master Maths Coordinator was employed and trained during 2007, while two other mathematics experts were trained as assistants to the Master Maths Coordinator. Because the Master Maths Programme was developed with the South African syllabus in mind, it had to be adapted to suit the Namibian syllabus. So far, 80% of the syllabus has been adapted; the remaining 20% should be completed by the first quarter of 2008.

Mathematics and Science Centres

The Arandis, Ondangwa and Tamariskia sites for the Mathematics and Science Centres were handed over to the builder in October 2007, and construction is expected to be completed by June 2008. The purchase of additional land at Tamariskia for the expansion of its current Mathematics and Science Centre is planned as soon as the valuation and community consultation processes have been carried out by the Swakopmund Municipality.
